June 7 EPMD invaded Brownsville, NY with DJ Scratch and Funkmaster Flex as part of NYC Summer stage program. They rocked the crowd with classic and FLex classic banter and bomb dropping. DJ Scratch started off the festivities as the opening act… put on a display of DJ tricks which he has become known for. As a previous DMC (DJ World Olympics) champion he did not disappoint. Shortly after times passed an all black on black (as if it was a crime) H2 Hummer rolled up with flex popping out and straight to the stage a if he was running late. Which he was dude was suppose to be there at 8… showed up at 8:30. He gave praise to Brooklyn as he always does and rocked it like he was on the radio. It is kinda strange though as he has an assistant who handles the track selection. I have always heard rumors about it but never experienced. Flex would hum the tunes of songs he didn’t know the name of and his number 2 would grab the track and load it up for him.

After Flex was done, it was time for the main event EPMD. They came on the stage and did what they do best. Act rowdy, and cheerful in a rough rap kind of way. They performed all of their classic with Scratch at the helm on the ones and twos. The highlight however for me and everyone personally was when they showed love to the DJ scratch… I’ve seen him perform many of times in the past and kind of know all his routines. He introduced a new one though. Chopped up Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” in a way which I did not think was possible and with a slew of other current tunes. Shorty afterwards it was back to EPMD and they were like “We have more treats for you” and next thing this guy in bright orange runs on the stage and its Mr.Keith Murray. who performs a couple of his classics. Crowd went crazy and then EPMD closed the show with one more song and a slew of thanks and goodbyes.
