This is just too ill, too many talented video makers on the rise. Only Dilla can inspire such work with his music like this. Part of Stones Throw video contest by James McMillan. Give it a shot AK?
The Crew at itstheofficial.com can talk music production all day long…. trust me. This video happens to be about two of my favorite artists Trackademicks (easily one of my favorite producers) and the lovely miss Teedra Moses (been a fan since day one). This video is a look into the making of the song Face the Music of of Trackademicks album State of the Arts. Check out the vintage ASR-88 ( nobody had the 88.. couldn’t fit into a bedroom) and the floppy disks… that’s some serious production heads nerd-out moment right there. I can’t front I get kinda jealous when Teedra refers to Trackademicks as her muse… that was supposed to be my spot SON!!!! – AK47
Pac Div is easily one of my favorite groups from this new generation of Hip Hop. I know they appeal to some true school heads like myself, but I think they manage to bridge the gap between the future and the past. This night had some great performances from Killer Mike as well. When Pac Div performed Anti Freeze from the Mania Mixtape it took the evening to a whole other level.
Production Notes- S.O.B.’s is one of my favorite places to get footage… great lighting.. no hassles. Also the audio always seems to distort my on board mic so I had to go with the mp3 from the mixtape. – AK47
Here is the first of a series of videos chronicling the making of D-Black’s next EP titled Success Story. Just a taste of what to expect with the Harlem/BX emcee. Look for a interview in the near future along with some new music to hold us over until the project is complete. Shouts to Akil Bakari (AK47) on the impromptu shooting of the day, recorded earlier this year during the beginning stages of the EP production.

They say history tends to repeat itself, and in todays current hip hop climate, one can’t help but notice the resurgence of talent coming out of one of the most celebrated boro’s in NYC, Queens. Just take scroll down the list of Queens finest that include the likes of Nas, Kool G. Rap, LL Cool J, ATCQ, MC Shan, Run-DMC, Mobb Deep…the list goes on…Its almost inevitable for you to be born in the boro that keeps it thoro and not want to take a shot at the mic. Fast forward to 2011 and a new breed of MC’s have stepped up to carry on tradition and bring back the essence. There’s a lot to live up to when repping the place who’s fingerprints are all over the hip hop history books, but theres no telling what this crop of talent will be able to rewrite. From braggadocio raps to droppin science, conscience flows to black metal rap, Queens got it covered. Lets take a stroll down the list of some of the main players taking part in this comeback.
